From superheroes to undersea adventures, princesses to dinosaurs, Storytown takes you on an interactive, fully improvised adventure! We use your suggestions and ideas to create a different story every week. Kids design the setting and help shape the story, and our actors, artists, and musicians bring it to life! When the possibilities are endless, no two stories are ever the same. We’ll see you in Storytown! Storytown is a fully improvised show put on by our “Townies” for you and your family. Performed every Saturday at 10:30 am – you will be laughing right along with your kids. This is not just any old improv show! Sure you’ll giggle and be awed by the talent of our actors – but there’s more! Once our audience members give us the suggestions we need to create our special story, we have other elements that bring it to life! We have very talented musicians who provide accompaniment for our actors. From spooky songs to merry melodies, our musicians provide it – ON THE SPOT! What story would be complete without a setting? While the actors create a story, and the musicians provide the tunes, our team of artists (with help from the audience) create not only a backdrop and setting, but props for the story as it evolves! Cookie-eating ghosts, house hats and giant quarters are just some of the things you may see our artists create. You know what? You know what? I’m gonna go home! And I’m gonna tell my mom I wanna come back on Saturday, because I had so much fun today. I like art. I’m really good at it! -Kayla, age 8 When you and your family (or friends, or class…) come to Storytown, you’ll...Read More
Did someone say birthday? We love birthdays! Storytown can be YOURS! Through the use of improvisation, there are no limitations to the creation of a special fairy tale created around the birthday boy or girl in front of his or her friends and family! The guests are allowed to bring food and arrive early for their celebration and are invited to call ahead for reservations to plan their event. Storytown can also coordinate a special workshop for the special day. This one hour workshop will introduce participants to the basic fundamentals of improvisation. Participants will engage in an array of interactive exercises that will stretch their bodies, voices and imaginations in a variety of ways and ultimately experience how collaboration and cooperation are the main ingredients for creating a fully interactive imaginative improvised story. Contact Jill Olson today to get more information on creating a truly unforgettable birthday! Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 773-245-3443 for more information. A note from a happy birthday mom: Hi Jill, I just wanted to send along a note of thanks! My son had his 6th birthday party at Storytown and it was a blast! The kids loved participating in the show “The Power Rangers save the Unicorns!” Not only did the kids enjoy the show, but the parents did too. The cast was amazing! The creativity it takes to improv, let alone improv a musical, then improv a musical with keeping an eye on incorporating the children and parents boggles my mind – what an amazing cast! The next day several of the kids were playing at a friends house and they tried to come up with their own improv show for...Read More

They have many fundraisers throughout the year but the Walk-A-Thon is special because this is the one fundraiser that the students actively participate in. They do the walking and get sponsors. As part of this, they are rewarded with some entertainment after the Walk-A-Thon. As it would happen, Storytown had donated 4 tickets to a raffle for another fundraiser at Keystone that prompted a bidding war. The families decided to share the tickets and see the show together. After the show they decided we would be the perfect fit for the Walk-A-Thon entertainment. What Storytown did for them: The day of the Walk-A-Thon we packed up our cars and brought Storytown to Keystone Montessori. As the students were enjoying lunch, the Storytown players began their prep and hanging the backdrop so the students could draw our setting just like they would get to at the theater. Our location for the day was ‘a castle by the sea’. Students were able to join in the fun by becoming alligators in a conga line, helping to capture the sea dragon and revealing where the fire knights sword was hidden. The older students jumped in on the fun and...Read More
